Endowed with a natural curiosity, passionate with discoveries, Rita Orekhova is also attracted by different horizons. Since about twenty years she lives in Alsace, close to Colmar where she has at her disposal a vast and luminous studio situated in the heart of the forest. Her works are inspired by the her environment, the woods, nature, evasion, dreams, in counterpart of a reality sometimes full of contradictions.
On the artistic side, Rita Orekhova is breaking free from the academism of the studying years heading to a painting more and more personal, free and conquering. Loaded with a communicative energy and will, the artist plunges herself into a work that oscillates between two worlds, two extremes, between past and present, realism and imaginary, figuration and abstraction, between sweetness and strong expression. One world is connected with the nostalgia of Saint-Petersburg where the artist returns regularly, the other one is taking sources in her environment, with a woodland charm, introverted, calm, an explosive serenity, an impetuousness sometimes tearing, stating on the themes of the flowers of her garden, the trees of the forest and the happiness hiding deeply in her self.
Adding to rich artistic run of the artist, a series of works on the theme of the wings, painted in recent months, echo as the fruits of new aspirations, a new flight and a reflexion on the sense of life and things. New spaces, more airy, conquering, synonym of movement, desires, freedom, beauty, characterise the new set, designated under the term of “take-off”.
The works, solidly structured, are also full of delicacies and touches knowingly placed in order to underline the envisaged subjects with passion, a work raising up admiration and the envy to let oneself carry and take away in the wake of their new perspectives.
Rita Orekhova lives and works in Freland (Alsace) since 1994 and Saint-Petersburg.
Graduated from the Fine Arts Academy of Saint-Petersburg (1987). Member of the the Russian Painters Union (1989). Since 1989, numerous exhibitions in Russia : Saint-Petersburg, Moscow; in France (Alsace) : Kaysersberg, Colmar, Turckheim, Ingersheim, Sélestat, Castle of Antes, Castle of Issembourg, Ribeauvillé, in Strasbourg, Palace of Europe; Paris (« Art et matière », 1999). In 2011, Russian year in France : Rita Orekhova takes part in sixteen exhibitions; participation to the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in Paris, Carrousel du Louvre (December 2014). Exhibitions also in Berlin (2000) and in Switzerland : Vevey (1999), Crans Montana (2015).
